Waiting

Cancer is waiting.

It’s a test of emotional strength and more importantly patience.  Since my mum’s diagnosis, we have waited for:

  1. An appointment to have fluid drained from her abdomen (2 drainage’s thus far.  16 litres! in the first instance and 8 litres in the second instance).
  2. A meeting with the MDT – 2 weeks.
  3. My mum had to have a laparoscopy.  Minor surgery under general anaesthetic to make an incision in her tummy and remove tissue samples and drain more fluid!
  4. An appointment to discuss her treatment plan – 6 cycles of chemotherapy.  No surgery as she has stage IV cancer.  An appointment for her first chemotherapy session.

Total = 4 weeks.  Feels like = 4 years.
